I just came back from a fantastic cruise in the Caribbean.  As I do most of the time, I observe others’ skin. It was very evident to me that the skin of most senior’s was dry, very loose and wrinkled. I am also very aware that we loose elasticity the older we get.

Yet, I saw another mature woman in the yoga class on board with wonderful, smooth, hydrated skin. I found out later that she had 5 children. She wore a tennis style skirt one excursion, and I was amazed how great her whole body looked.

What was the difference?

I am consistent with applying a hydrating lotion or oil after every shower. Once every other day may not be enough.  So I started to hydrate my skin both morning and evening. I also dry skin brush my skin before each shower. I highly recommend you do the same.

Follow these steps:

  • Use a skin brush with natural fibers.

  • If possible brush first thing in the morning before showering.

  • Start at your feet; stroke the brush towards the ankle.

  • Continue on your legs and hips, using upward strokes. Do circular movements behind each of your knees.

  • Move on to the arms. Start at hands and move toward shoulders. Do circular movements in each of your armpits.

  • Continue on your stomach in circular movements towards your chest.

  • Brush from your neck down to the lower back.

  • Never brush over open or irritated skin (sun burns, cuts, etc.)

Please note: The first few times you try dry brushing it may feel uncomfortable. Be gentle and brush lightly.

Here is a dry skin brush I recommend – Back Brush

  • Stimulates the circulation
  • Improves skin tone and texture

Plus, a great cream – Firming Body Cream

  • Reduces the appearance of dimpled skin
  • Leaves skin feeling firmer and more toned

AND you bet I am going to keep attending my yoga classes!
