At the age of 10 while watching my grandmother make pie crusts, I became fascinated with health. One of the ingredients, lard, did not melt like butter when left out. This led me to research what lard was. I discovered that lard was made from beef fat, and had negative impact on one’s health and several diseases could result. From this early age I started to read ingredient lists on all food products and completely eliminated red meat from my diet.
Around that same time I began to compete in team sports (basketball, softball, volleyball). I supported the local professional football, basketball, baseball, and hockey teams. I loved the camaraderie of teams and the goal to play to their best abilities.
As an adult I have participated in many 10k runs, adult softball leagues, and disc golf. I am always up to play a pick-up game of most sports. At the age of 49 I checked off one of my bucket list items by completing a marathon.
I pursued wellness further by receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health from Saint Joseph’s University in 1987. I moved to San Diego and went on to work in the healthcare industry and added a Professional Certificate in Wellness, Health Promotion in 1992 from UC San Diego.
My husband made a career change which had us relocate to Fort Lauderdale FL. After completing my Aesthetics diploma from Florida College of Natural Health in 2001, I began my career as an esthetician at a dermatology office.
We decided to relocate to Asheville NC in 2003 and I continued to work in a dermatology office. Within the dermatology setting I became certified in IPL, Laser Hair Removal, Dermaplaning, Blue Light and Microdermabrasion. I switched to an Aveda salon during the Covid pandemic, which aligns more with my wellness focus. I recommend healthy, effective skin care products and treatments in the Ayurvedic tradition.
I am passionate about combining health and wellness in a team camaraderie system. My program as a Radiant Skin Coach will be informative, rewarding and fun!
